The Affinia 50 hotel in New York is undergoing a complete renovation and an addition of 41 guestrooms.
Slated for completion in November, the hotel’s update is being overseen by architect Nobutaka Ashihara and Seattle-based Dawson Design Associates.
The redesign will capture the evolution of the Midtown neighborhood, while a more open layout will aim for creating a city-smart space. In the lobby, a palette of black, gray, white, and pops of red will combine with rich woods in the furnishings. Artwork will further create residential appeal throughout the hotel.
Guestrooms will soon feature bookends, throw pillows, New York photography, and selected artwork. Some rooms will have kitchens, while some will include private terraces with views of the skyline.
The hotel’s Club room is also getting an update with a stainless steel-and-stone staircase, hard woods, and lush carpets.
