Delano Las Vegas, a collaboration between MGM Resorts International and Morgans Hotel Group, has revealed a first look at the design that will transform THEhotel at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas.
Anchored by intimate, yet energetic public spaces and sophisticated accommodations, the all-suite boutique hotel is a collaboration between the design teams of both companies, led by Joyen Vakil, senior vice president of design and development for MGM Resorts International; and Verena Haller, senior vice president of design for Morgans Hotel Group.
The transformation of the hotel began earlier this month with an opening scheduled for September. The debut of the boutique hotel will mark the culmination of Mandalay Bay’s property-wide evolution, which includes collaborations with brands such as Cirque du Soleil, The Light Group, and Four Seasons, in addition to Morgans Hotel Group.
Blending eclectic details for a playful, energetic atmosphere, the public spaces will be highlighted by a new lobby with a coffee bar, a sophisticated lounge, and a café concept. After entering through a stone entry and a wood-slatted gate, guests will be greeted by a divided boulder from the Nevada desert. The walkway will also feature colors and textures inspired by the layered landscape of the Mojave Desert.

3940 Coffee + Tea will feature mid-century modern furniture, plush sofas, communal seating, and a marble fireplace. Another new culinary space will blend natural design elements with industrial materials for a warm feel. Evoking the look of a historic farmhouse meets an urban kitchen, this new outpost will serve breakfast and lunch. And at Franklin lounge, gold lighting accents, deep shades of blue, and bronze hues with navy sheers will mimic a space filled with fireflies.
Paying homage to Delano Las Vegas’ surroundings, artwork in guestroom corridors will depict classic desert roadside scenes. The suites will contrast with a bright and airy atmosphere and gold accents. Anchored by a gray geometric print carpet, each room will draw inspiration from South Beach with photos of seductive underwater scenes.
