Development company Brayford Hotels has unveiled the designs for the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln in the UK. Envisioned as a social gathering place for the community, the hotel will feature a rooftop bar and restaurant accessible by a panoramic glass elevator, as well as over 5,000 square feet of function space. Of the 115 modern guestrooms, 17 have been designed as spacious studio suites, each with a balcony and views of either the Brayford Pool or the Lincoln Cathedral.
The developers were careful to maintain the heritage of the hotel’s site, which was once home to one of the city’s electricity substations. In addition to retaining the original door to the substation and the plaque commemorating its official opening in 1910, the design team has incorporated wood and metal into the hotel to reflect Lincoln’s industrial past. Because of the hotel’s location on the edge of the Brayford Pool, the design also has been inspired by curved shapes and corridors with flowing lines to mirror the movement of the water.
