Israeli billionaire Lev Leviev’s real estate company, Africa-Israel USA, is planning to convert the former New York Times Building into a high-end hospitality experience. The 15-story structure would house a 379-room hotel with an 11th-floor lobby showcasing double-height ceilings and arched windows. Other plans call for luxury retail, exhibition space, upscale bowling alley, nightclub, seven restaurants, and 26 penthouse condos.
"The strongest thing going for the property is its location and the continued vibrancy of Times Square as a tourist center and a magnet for visitors," Richard A. Marin, CEO of Africa-Israel USA, tells the New York Times.
