Hilton Worldwide, in partnership with Redefine|BDL Hotels, has unveiled its newest DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Scotland-the brand’s first in the capital-with the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre.
Originally the St. Cuthbert’s Co-Operative building, which dates back to 1892, the property went on to become the Point Hotel and has since been transformed with a $5.7-million renovation. Set in Edinburgh’s historic old town, the 138-room property boasts a domed roof, brasserie-style restaurant, and a top floor penthouse with views of Edinburgh Castle.
Dining options include the intimate Monboddo bar and Bread Street Brasserie. In addition, on the first Thursday of every month, the hotel transforms its penthouse venue into a Skybar. For conferences and meetings, the hotel offers a 120-person venue, three additional meeting rooms, and the penthouse.
“Edinburgh, voted European Destination of the Year at the World Travel Awards 2012, is the second most popular tourist destination in the UK after London,” says Simon Vincent, president of Europe, Middle East, and Africa for Hilton Worldwide. “The opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre joins a Scottish portfolio of 14, which, during a year that will see the country play host to world-class events including the Ryder Cup and the 2014 Commonwealth Games, is immensely exciting.”
DoubleTree by Hilton has three further Scottish properties, with hotels in Dunblane, Aberdeen, and Dundee.
