The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) has given an Honor Award to EDSA for its work at the Crosswaters Ecolodge in Guangdong, China. The firm, which partnered with architects Paul Pholeros and Simon Velez as well as BUZ Design for the project, worked with local craftsmen and emphasized recycling and the use of native plants to create an eco-experience that gives back to the community. EDSA also followed strict sustainable practices during implementation, and much of the building materials were reclaimed from around the site.
“The entire project is a tribute to Chinese tradition and a celebration of bamboo with service structures and details down to the table linens and napkins being made of bamboo from the neighboring Nankun Mountain Reserve,” notes EDSA president and CEO Joseph Lalli.
