The Empire Room, the latest venue from Mark Grossich of Hospitality Holdings, has opened on the ground floor of the Empire State Building. Outfitted in an Art Deco theme, the upscale cocktail lounge features the work of design firm Goodman Charlton. Defining the space are lush mohairs, intricate cut velvets, rare macassar ebony indigenous of Africa, silver leaf, embossed leather, and polished stainless steel that hearken back to another era of lavish supper clubs and cocktail bars. The color palette, meanwhile, evokes the warm glow of the cocktails themselves: rich brandy, deep cognac, icy silver, and golden cream.
“The Empire Room will return the Empire State Building to its original glory and, after many years, provide it with the elegant cocktail lounge it deserves,” Grossich says.
