Fabbrica Restaurant & Bar in Brooklyn, New York has launched a competition to find a dynamic local artist. As part of the contest targeting the Brooklyn art community, the winner will receive a six-month mural residency at the waterfront restaurant. Fabbrica owner Alberto Baudo will invest the resources for production and installation.
The competition will run for 25 days, at which point a panel of judges will review all submissions and select a winner. While artists have complete freedom to express their creativity, it is suggested they consider the Italian identity of the restaurant as well as its location in industrial Brooklyn. The winning artist’s piece will be digitally printed on a vinyl adhesive, spanning nine feet tall by 45 feet wide, and applied to the walls of the restaurant where it will be exhibited for six months. During the final week of submissions, the restaurant will also take to social media, asking its diners to vote from an image display in the lounge area of all submitted pieces thus far.
Competition judges include Gabriele Romagnoli, editor at large for Vanity Fair Italy; architect Aldo Andreoli of AA Studio; singer and fashion designer Misfit Dior; photographer David Jacquot; architect Gilles Depardon of Ogawa Depardon Architects; and HD magazine’s Stacy Shoemaker Rauen.
Submissions should be in digital format as a high-resolution file and emailed to [email protected] by June 15th at 11:59 p.m. EST.
