Boston’s Fairmont Copley Plaza completed extensive renovations just in time for the hotel’s 100th birthday. All 383 guestrooms were outfitted with plum and blue color palettes that exude quiet sophistication. Designed as mini museums, eight themed suites celebrate Boston icons like the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Pops, and the Boston Public Library. Meanwhile, the Fairmont Gold Lounge emulates the feeling of a Back Bay mansion with elegant residential décor.
The original 1912 hand-laid mosaic tile floor also received a complete restoration, enhancing the feel of opulence and elegance envisioned by original architect Henry Janeway Hardenbergh. The five meeting rooms comprise 5,600 square feet of function space and feature ergonomic conference chairs, new conference tables, and built-in buffets, while the lower lobby meeting space showcases wood paneling.
Along with spruced-up lounges and corridors, guests can enjoy the new lobby lounge, decked out with lavish furnishings and wallcoverings, along with signed lithographs by Matisse, Picasso, and Chagall. Designed as a contemporary urban loft, the rooftop health club boasts an outdoor deck and floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the Back Bay. OAK Long Bar + Kitchen, opening this summer, blends the past and president through vaulted ceilings, original Beaux Arts plaster, restored copper mullions, cerused oak, and tufted leather bar stools sidled up to an 83-foot copper-topped bar.
