Fairmont Hotels and Resorts is heading to Istanbul, with plans to open a new property in 2016. The 210-room hotel will be part of the Quasar Istanbul complex-a new mixed-use development in the Sisli district-and will be joined by branded residences, all housed in two 41-story towers sitting above a four-story platform.
The residences are whole-ownership private homes and will offer studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments, and three-bedroom duplexes. A private lounge, a wine cellar, and preferred pricing for various hotel offerings are among the amenities.
The Fairmont Hotel features Fairmont Gold-the brand’s hotel-within-a-hotel lifestyle offering-a number of lounges and several restaurants, 21,500 square feet of function space, and a spa.
The Quasar Istanbul complex contains the former Mecidiyekoy Liqueur and Cognac Factory-a 1930s build designed by French architect Robert Mallet-Stevens. Rebuilt by Istanbul-based Emre Arolat Architects the adjacent former distillery will be restored to its original design for a culture, fashion, and arts center. An urban open space is also planned for the development of a city park and recreation area.
“Istanbul is an exciting, dynamic city that will appeal to our business and leisure guests,” says Jennifer Fox, president, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. “As well as complementing our other developments in the region, it is very exciting to be partnering with Viatrans on this amazing project blending hotel, residential and community space.”
