GrizForm Design Architects is drawing inspiration from an urban farmhouse for its latest project, Farmers Fishers Bakers, opening this fall on the Georgetown Waterfront in Washington, DC. The restaurant and bar, created by the same team behind Founding Farmers, will feature art in the bar area, including sculptural farm animals and gardening tools used as a seasonal display to garner the farmhouse theme. Flooring in the bar area takes cues from the field grids seen from an airplane above and brown lighting that will bring a sunset feeling indoors.
The Nautical-inspired back dining area offers pod-like booths, while communal tables that seat about 10 will sit above whitewashed wood flooring in the Pantry area. Also in the Pantry, barrels and shelving alongside the tables will be packed with items that the restaurant pickled, grew, and made. In addition, a series of dioramas will adorn the entire space with miniature versions of a farm setting.
