Main Street Hospitality Group is developing a new hotel on North Street in downtown Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Hotel on North is set to open in summer 2015.

Set on the former site of the Besse-Clarke Company department store, which operated from 1910–1994, the design of the hotel’s 45 rooms will reflect an early 20th century department store. James M. Burns, a local merchant who established a home furnishing store in Pittsfield in the late 1870s, built the original buildings, known as the Burns Blocks and the Burns New Block. Both buildings represent the northward expansion of Pittsfield’s central business district in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Hotel on North is an adaptive reuse of a historic building with a design that captures the sense of Pittsfield’s past. The exterior of the building will remain intact, while the interior will have a vintage motif. Decorations and furnishings throughout the property will showcase an appreciation for historical accuracy.
The hotel will include two restaurants, a small media space for groups, and two other smaller facilities to accommodate intimate group meetings, as well as a private space for events. The property will be managed by Main Street Hospitality Group, a management company based out of the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
