Jekyll Island, Georgia, has welcomed its first new hotel since 1974 with the 138-room beachfront Hampton Inn and Suites. Owned by Jekyll Ocean Oaks, LLC, and operated by New Castle Hotels & Resorts, the property features 88 suites with balconies, a lobby bar, expansive pool deck, kids’ pool, and outdoor dining and gathering space. The hotel also utilizes solar panels for water heating.
"The opening of the first new hotel on Jekyll Island in over 35 years is a landmark event," says Jones Hooks, executive director of the Jekyll Island Authority, in a statement. "In addition to offering more lodging, the architectural design and commitment to the environmental sensitivity represent a significant step forward in the revitalization of the island."
