DoubleTree by Hilton Worldwide and Newport Group has announced the June reopening of the former Sheraton Atlantic Beach Oceanfront Hotel as a DoubleTree by Hilton.
In August 2011, the Sheraton Atlantic Beach Hotel closed following severe damage caused by Hurricane Irene. The property was acquired by Newport Group in December 2012 and is currently undergoing a $5 million renovation for a summer reopening as the DoubleTree by Hilton Atlantic Beach Hotel.
The property-wide renovation includes upgrades to the lobby and front desk areas, while guestrooms will feature a modern beach design. Molly’s restaurant will also reopen following renovations.
“The charming Atlantic Beach community is an ideal fit for the DoubleTree by Hilton brand,” says John Greenleaf, global head of DoubleTree by Hilton. “Together with our long-time partner, Newport Group, we look forward to meeting visitor’s needs for an upscale, full-service hotel offering with the DoubleTree by Hilton Atlantic Beach Hotel.”
