Four Seasons has rolled out the results of its inaugural luxury trend report, showing that affluent travelers are making more use of technology. Seventy-eight percent of survey respondents affluent participate in social networking sites, with more than half using social media to connect with a brand. The luxury consumer is increasingly going online to research and make purchases, with Four Seasons noting that online bookings rose 10 percent from 2010 to 2011. In addition, one-third of wealthy consumers own a tablet; the hotelier’s revenue generated from the iPad and its equivalents grew 200 percent from 2010 to 2011, with this number expected to grow significantly this year.
Four Seasons’ unveiling of its report coincides with the launch of its new website, offering personalized content, optimization for mobile devices and tablets, and access to user-generated reviews from various sites across the web.
