Chef Jose Garces is opening his sixth Philadelphia venue, Garces Trading Company, on February 16. The gourmet market and café will feature a flower shop, wine shop, coffee counter, on-site bakery, and private label olive oils and vinegars. For the design, Garces joined forces with regular collaborator Jun Aizaki of Crème Design Collective to include high ceilings, high-top butcher block tables, and white subway tiled walls.
"Garces Trading Company recalls the era of merchant ships and open-air markets," says Aizaki. "We’ve broken the edges of the main space into a series of stalls selling their wares, and guests can browse, shop, then settle in at a table in the central dining area and enjoy their purchases at their own pace."
