Gerber Group will open its latest bar in New York on December 12. Located beneath the W Union Square, Lilium replaces the company’s previous outlet, Underbar, and serves as a fresh reinterpretation of Gerber’s original property, the Whiskey, in honor of its 20th anniversary.
Gulla Jonsdottir of G+Design took her design inspiration from the intricate look of a cave of wild lilies. A twisted metal ceiling cascades down the walls and complements the sculptural black steel lilies, created by metal artist Scot Brown. Contoured wood and gold-tone accents evoke a dark feminine energy, while vintage rock ‘n’ roll influences permeate the 1,600-square-foot space.
