A Chicago building whose construction stalled for four years will be home to Godfrey Hotel. Developed by Oxford Capital Group with Cube Capital, the upper-upscale hotel will reside in the city’s River North neighborhood adjacent to the Hotel Felix Chicago.
“We conceived of the hotel’s design as a taut wrapping of cubist forms that shift inward and outward to reveal the building’s expressive structural frame,” says architect David Jennerjahn of Valerio Dewalt Train. “Both daring and honest-a real Chicago building.”
Interiors by Gettys reflect the building’s modern architecture with an interplay of strong geometric forms and the impactful use of color. The marble-clad, elliptical lobby will showcase sculptural seating groups and floor-to-ceiling windows. At the rooftop lounge and terrace, skyline views form a backdrop for dark polished stone, custom carpet, sculptural lighting, and sumptuous seating. The hotel’s 221 studio and one-bedroom suites will be outfitted with built-in furniture.
Amenities call for a restaurant and lobby bar, a spa, fitness center, and indoor/outdoor conference space accented with water elements, firepits, and greenery.
