Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa has completed the first phase of guestroom renovations, helmed by design firm WATG. The redesigned accommodations bring the richness of the island indoors with elements such as a white marble tiled entryway, marble bathroom countertops with double sink vanity, and luxurious rain style showers. The roots of Hawaii are ever present in the room’s design elements with rich mahogany furniture (including a unique handcarved headboard featuring an imprint of the native hapu’u fern) and linens inspired by traditional kapa prints, while stylized artwork pays homage to ancient petroglyphs found in the sandstone adjacent to the resort.
The guestroom renovations have also included sustainable elements, such as high-efficiency recessed lighting for the bathroom vanity area, Toto low-flow toilets using one-third less water than standard toilets, low-VOC paints, carpeting made with recycled yarn, and energy-saving ceiling fans.
