Kimpton Hotels has hired Washington, DC-based firm GrizForm Design Architects to renovate the rooftop deck at the Donovan House in DC. Set to open before Memorial Day, the 2,455-square-foot rooftop redesign aims to attract pool-goers as a tranquil retreat.

Previously, the same furniture setup was used for both the day and evening. The new design allows for lounging during the day and poolside dining at night. Loungers, lounge chairs, banquette seating, and bar stools will be available throughout the daytime while dining tables, dining chairs, and lounge seating will replace loungers on the deck in the evening.

With a palette of earth tones and pops of white and sea foam green, the updates will include new loungers and tables as well as a white Corian and slate bar top and wall. An extended bar, Ipe wood decking, and powdercoated white metal touches will add to the enhancements. Two cabanas with wood slats and curtains will also be added to the poolside of the deck.
