Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts has opened the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah. Debuting as the brand’s first hotel in the UAE, it’s the 25th addition to the increasingly global Waldorf Astoria portfolio.
Lobby Interior
Designed by HBA London, the 346-room Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah is designed to mirror the classic features of an Arabian palace. The lobby’s interior palette recalls the ancient practice of pearl diving with turquoise silk and ocean-inspired colors. In the center of the lobby, an iconic clock based upon the ancient astrolabe rings out the five daily prayer times in the Arabic culture; its faces are decorated with turquoise glass accents and its base has been engraved with a phrase from a traditional Bedouin poem.
Arabic restaurant
Coming off the lobby is Peacock Alley, where the design mixes local touches with contemporary style inspired by the brand’s New York City flagship. Banquettes encircle a tiered, golden-tiled fountain, while an overhead chandelier with handcrafted glass elements suggests peacock feathers.

Junior suite
The hotel’s bedrooms evoke a waterside oasis with neutral toned textiles and splashes of turquoise on the scrolled lines of the wool carpet, the bed throw, and swirled solid glass spheres. Designed for privacy, the suites boast lavish finishes and a white marble staircase with a black balustrade. The pearl theme continues with bespoke headboards adorned with mother-of-pearl inlays and contemporary art mixes with traditional Islamic detailing.
Mirage Bar
The hotel additionally boasts six entertainment and dining venues⎯⎯Camelia, a traditional tea lounge; an intimate and exclusive nightclub; Waldorf’s cigar bar and a choice of outdoor dining courtesy of Azure and Al Fayrouz; Lexington Grill; Japanese restaurant Umi; and Emirati-inspired cuisine at Marjan. The Waldorf Astoria Spa⎯⎯one of the UAE’s largest spas at 17,760 square feet⎯⎯features 12 treatment rooms as well as a VIP room. Four meeting rooms, separate boardroom, and a business center round out the amenities.
Royal Suite
“There has never been a more exciting time to launch our world class luxury brand in the UAE,” says Rudi Jagersbacher, president of Hilton Worldwide Middle East & Africa.
