Following a 40-year career, HBA president Howard Pharr is retiring. Pharr, who joined HBA Atlanta in 1981, has been the company’s president since 1997. He has designed dozens of hotels, including the Hyatt Regency in Cologne, Germany; St Regis Grand Hotel in Rome, Italy; Park Hyatt in Johannesburg, South Africa; Raffles Hotel Istanbul; the Sanctuary at Kiawah Island; Mandarin Oriental New York; St. Regis in Atlanta; and Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans.
Upon retirement, Pharr plans to paint, sail, and build a new home on Kiawah Island in South Carolina. He will continue serving as a consultant to HBA.
