HD Americas began yesterday in Miami for another successful hospitality conference and tradeshow. With the industry’s growth in the Americas, the conference offers presentations, networking opportunities, and a wealth of exhibitions from this expanding region.
The managing partners of Grupo Habita, Carlos Couturier and Moises Micha, started off the event with a keynote conversation with HD‘s Michael Adams. Discussing their first ventures-including the namesake Hotel Habita in Mexico City-to their most recent their recent projects, such as an upcoming hostel, the team explained the challenges and triumphs in building boutique properties in the region.
“We wanted to show the world that the city had changed,” explained Couturier in regards to Hotel Habita. “It’s about the future of Mexico, not the past.”
Site tours took groups around the Lord Balfour Hotel on Miami Beach and the Gale South Beach & Regent Hotel, while talks covering everything from Latin American design for the future and the destruction and recovery of the Marco Island Marriott engaged both attendees and exhibitors. Meanwhile, innovative and creative products were presented throughout the show floor for more than 4,000 attendees.
“Exhibitors’ expectations were exceeded at the show,” says show director Liz Sommerville. “An intimate setting allowed people to make new acquaintances and renew previous ones, and the quality both in the conferences and on the show floor has grown significantly. We’re looking forward to next year!”
