Hilton Chicago has completed the first phase of its four-phase $150 million transformation. Of the hotel’s 1,544 guestrooms, 454 units have undergone an extensive redesign inspired by Chicago’s founding motto, “Urbs in Horto,” which translates to City in a Garden. Materials include velvet, silk, leather, bronze, rich wood, and fine linens. In addition, 11 of the 13 specialty suites are undergoing a renovation to take advantage of unobstructed lake and skyline views.

The hotel is home to a revamped lobby-level restaurant and lounge called 720 South Bar & Grill, whose design melds the Beaux Arts style of the hotel with contemporary touches. The restaurant features three distinct eating areas and a 14-seat private dining room. Meanwhile, the expanded bar offers a tech lounge where guests can plug in laptops and handheld devices, as well as watch TV on large video screens. A tech lounge also is available at the new grab-and-go store known as SNAX.
