Jonathan Nehmer + Associates (JN+A) and HVScompass Design have designed the newly opened Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa in Richmond, Virginia. The team, which derived inspiration from the Italian renaissance, incorporated classical Renaissance architectural and interior design elements throughout the hotel, which features Aura Day Spa and Shula’s Restaurant.
The public spaces feature serene colors—including shades of blue intermingled throughout the fabrics are artwork—and varying textures to create a canvas for flickering light. Arched doorways, natural stone, pilasters, and backlit crown molding exemplify classical elements. The lobby’s ambiance flows through the hotel’s 33,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, where a large backlit dome serves as the centerpiece of the ballroom.
A relaxing, natural design scheme defines the guestrooms, whose modern design showcases a luxurious bed embraced by an oversized, upholstered headboard, as well as classic, upgraded molding. Wall décor featuring artistic black and white foliage imagery brings outdoor elements into the room. This tranquil, calming environment extends to the bathrooms through warm tones and green glass tile in the shower and bathtub.
