Hilton Worldwide enters the new year on the heels of a successful 2011, when the company opened 170 hotels. Hilton also signed management or franchise agreements on more than 320 hotels, representing over 62,000 rooms. Other development highlights include:
- A current global pipeline of 150,000 rooms
- Plans to reach 50 hotels in Latin America by the end of 2013
- Rooms under construction in emerging markets growing from 6 percent in June 2007 to 66 percent
- More than 20,000 keys in 117 properties in Europe pipeline
In 2011, Hilton Worldwide also launched its corporate social responsibility program, as well as obtained International Organization for Standardizations’ ISO 9001 certification for Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001 certification for Environmental Management Systems.
