HKS Hill Glazier Studio is designing Jawhar (meaning “jewel” in Arabic), a luxury estate located in the district of cultural, residential, and hospitality developments in west Marrakech, Morocco. Scheduled to open in summer 2012, the 34-acre development calls for 25 private residences, an all-suite hotel, signature gourmet restaurant, and wellness center with spa.
“Embracing formal water axes and planting, the architecture and landscape are in a balance that is always stimulating but never overwhelming,” says HKS Hill Glazier senior designer Luciano Mazza. “The design enhances the concept of the Jawhar estate, where inner and outer spaces, garden courtyards, buildings, plants, and water are all part of a single idea that inspires confidence and calm.”
HKS will work closely with other design leaders on the project, including Sybille de Margerie of the Parisian interior design company SM Design for the hotel interiors; Amanda Rosa Interiors for the spa; landscape design firm Jean Mus et Compagnie; spa operator ESPA; and Jacques Grange, who will design the interiors of the 25 private residences.
