The industry’s top design firms have taken on the ultimate design challenge-Product Runway-a showcase of couture creations to raise funds for scholarships through NEWH Greater New York. With a $1,000 budget, 3-month timeline, and one select material, ranging from stone and tile to carpet and wallcovering, 16 design teams have accepted the challenge: AJC Design, BBG-BBGM, Bill Rooney Studio, BR Guest Restaurants, Champalimaud, DiGuiseppe Architecture, Gensler, HLW International, ICRAVE, Jeffrey Beers International, Rottet Studio, Seed Design, Stonehill & Taylor Architects, Therese Virserius Design, WATG/Wimberly Interiors, and Wilson Associates.
Each design team was paired with a contributing manufacturer-Alger-Triton, Artistic Tile, Clayton Miller, Desso, InterfaceFLOR, Lusive, Maya Romanoff, MDC, Palecek, SICIS, Shaw Hospitality, Stone Source, Swarovski, UltraGlas, Walker Zanger, and Zenith-that provided $500 worth of their product material for inspiration.
As the event was inspired by the Lifetime television series Project Runway, it’s only fitting the fashions will be judged by designers who have been through it before. Kevin Christiana (Season 4), Suede (Season 5), and Joshua McKinley (Season 9) will be bringing their talents and experience to the runway, declaring who will be in, and who will be out. The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship donated to the school of their choice and the chance to exhibit their design at the NEWH Greater New York Regional Tradeshow in June 2012.
Season 4 alumnus Jack Mackenroth and NBC host Lauren Scala will host the star-studded design event, to be held November 14th, 6:30pmâ€â€œ9:00pm at Marquee Nightclub in New York City.
Tickets are $115 for NEWH members and $165 for non-members and are available online.
