Looney & Associates has taken a subtly sophisticated approach in its redesign of 368 guestrooms and suites in Hotel del Coronado‘s original 124-year-old Victorian building. Refurbished accommodations offer historical and regional references while reflecting the warm, natural style of the beachfront resort located outside of San Diego. A soothing palette of soft lilac, rich brown, and oyster-tinged neutral hues sets the tone as the room design references the historical relevance of the property with Victorian-era motifs utilized in fabrics, textures, and geometric forms. Natural materials such as woven leathers and wools, embroidered patterns, and woods like teak and cerused walnut further define the space. Many of the guestrooms also include separate seating areas with views of the Pacific Ocean, Glorietta Bay, and Coronado Island. The room renovation is slated for completion in March.
