In May, IHG will open its first Hotel Indigo in Asia Pacific with Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund. As the only hotel to sit directly on the Huangpu River front, the 182-room property features an eclectic mix of modern and authentic design to create an inspiring and playful environment, contrasting traditional Chinese pieces with contemporary local finds. The proximity of the river and dock also has been subtly woven into the design.
Guestrooms, which include 21 River View suites and two spacious Garden Terrace suites with extensive private terraces, are individually designed. Design details include modern Chinese design bespoke pieces, bathrooms with oversized wet rooms and walk-in "shell showers," reclaimed Shikumen brick feature walls, and hidden refreshment bars with individually designed tea sets.
Complete with dedicated relaxation areas, work spaces, and social corners, the Sanctuary provides everything from massage chairs to reading areas in the library. Set upon the 29th and 30th floors of the hotel overlooking the river, Char restaurant will feature an open kitchen and a bar. The hotel will also include a gym, glass-fronted infinity swimming pool, and conference rooms.
