Kimpton Hotels and Resorts‘ Hotel Monaco San Francisco has a new look. Inspired by Bill Kimpton-the brand’s founder and visionary-the renovation boasts a whimsical and bold design located in the heart of the city’s theater district.
Seattle-based Dawson Designs Associates, Inc. led the redesign of the hotel lobby and the hotel’s 201 guestrooms and suites. Now with an eclectic and contemporary appeal, each room aims to reflect San Francisco’s independent spirit. Guestrooms feature French Art Nouveau headboards and silk pillows. Complementing striped wallpaper and trompe-l’oeil cabinetry, a linen drapery offers an international panache with a traditional Indian block print motif.
Integrated into the lobby’s frescoed ceilings, grand fireplaces, and curved marble staircase is the hotel’s original art-including the “Tree of Life” by sculptor Albert Guibara.
The Monaco also provides more than 7,000-square-feet of meeting and event space-both set to be refreshed later this year. An on-site fitness center and spa, including a steam room, Jacuzzi, and sauna are also available at the hotel.
