Geolo Capital and AJ Capital Partners will purchase the historic Chicago Athletic Association for $13 million. According to the Chicago Tribune, Geolo’s John Prtizker says he will build a 250-room hotel in the iconic property. Thompson Hotels will operate the hotel. (Pritzker is co-chairman of Thompson’s parent company, Commune Hotels & Resorts.) The renovation calls for a rooftop restaurant and bar, as well as sensitivity to the structure’s original elements, such as wood panels, doorknobs, and mosaic-tiled floors.
