In April, Hotel Viura—named after the most widely planted white grape variety in its location of Rioja, Spain—opens as a member of Epoque Hotels with an ultramodern design boasting 26 guestrooms, seven suites, two bars (one of which is on the rooftop), and a restaurant situated under a ceiling of old wine barrels.
The luxury boutique hotel harmonizes within a working wine village while showcasing unique architecture where concrete cubes are stacked upon one another. The design also links the interior to the exterior landscape; floor-to-ceiling windows throughout and private terraces ensure views of the village, the Sierra de Cantabria mountain range, or the 17th century church. The sleek, uncluttered interiors were designed by designhouses, which also owns the hotel. Clever use of partitions, glass, and sophisticated lighting add to the ambiance. The property will also have a sommelier that can guide guests through the large wine cellar.
