In 2011, room nights booked through hotel websites grew consistently in each quarter, increasing 6.8 percent in the Q4 compared to the same time in 2010, according to the Fourth Quarter 2011 TravelClick North American Distribution Review (NADR). In fact, reservations made through property websites accounted for 26.5 percent of all bookings. Overall, online travel agencies (OTA) accounted for 11.4 percent of rooms booked, global distribution systems (GDS) used by travel agents represented 19.3 percent, and the use of voice or toll-free numbers accounted for 16.7 percent of travelers booking rooms.
In addition, average daily rates (ADR) for the leisure and business travel segment increased across all channels, up 3.8 percent compared to 2010.
