Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has opened the Westin Wilmington, the brand’s first in Delaware.

The hotel design was led by Jasmine Rai from Rockville, Maryland-based HVS Design.
The LEED-certified hotel is directly connected to the Chase Center on the Riverfront and features 180 rooms, full-service dining at the River Rock Kitchen, and meeting facilities and function space. HVS Design drew inspiration from the local Wilmington industries, like leather and lumber, to complete the design. Leather details and warm wood tones and texture and depth throughout.
“The Westin Wilmington is an exciting project to be a part of,” says Jonathan Nehmer, managing principal of HVS Design. “Not only is this project a welcome addition to the Wilmington community, but it is also an exceptional showcase of the development team’s talents and abilities. We appreciate the way everyone from ownership down pulled in the same direction to make this project a reality.”
Combined, the Westin Wilmington and the adjacent Chase Center on the Riverfront offer 92,000 square feet of meeting space, as well as a Legal Center serving law firms needing secure space while trying cases in Delaware. Additional facilities include a fitness studio, indoor pool, and business center.
“The opening of the Westin Wilmington is an important step forward in the redevelopment of the Riverfront district,” says Dave Pollin, cofounder of the Buccini/Pollin Group, joint owners of the hotel. “The new Westin will inspire wellbeing with its spectacular views, world-class amenities, and innovative brand-led programming.”
