Legendary architect I.M. Pei has received the Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architecture, recognizing his lifetime of work and architectural influence. Perhaps best known for his design of the glass pyramid at the Louvre in Paris, the 92-year-old Pei joins the likes of Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
Pei’s works include the National Center for Atmospheric Research, Boulder, Colorado; the East Wing of the National Gallery, Washington, DC; the John F Kennedy Library, Boston; and the Bank of China, Hong Kong.
