The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has announced an agreement to co-locate the International Builder’s Show (IBS) and the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) for the annual Las Vegas event. As announced by Barry Rutenberg, chairman of NAHB, and John Morgan, president of NKBA, the co-location of the shows will be first of three annual mega-events beginning in February 2014.
While the two events will remain separate and distinct shows, they will be held simultaneously at the Las Vegas Convention Center through 2016 as the foundation of Design and Construction Week. The new mega-event, with one access pass for both shows, will be held on February 4-6, 2014 and will focus on new ideas, technologies, and products to build and design homes. Each show occupies a separate hall, but kitchen and bath brands that have participated in both shows can choose to exhibit in the IBS or KBIS hall.
Attracting more than 700 exhibitors, KBIS is the largest North American event entirely for the kitchen and bath field and has been held annually for the last 49 years. Attendees include designers, architects, remodelers, wholesalers, and custom builders. The 2013 show, occurring April 19-21 in New Orleans, is expected to host more than 300 members of the media and 20,000 buyers and specifiers from more than 50 countries.
IBS is the largest annual light construction show in the world, attracting builders, remodelers, developers, architects, and other industry professionals from more than 100 countries. With 50,000 attendees expected at the 2013 show, IBS 2013 features nearly 1,000 exhibitors in more than 200 construction categories.
In 2015, Design and Construction Week will add to the event SURFACES and StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas on January 21-23. SURFACES is the largest floor-covering industry event in North America for retailers, distributors, installers, designers, and home builders, while StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas is the only North American show focused on the natural stone industry. To accommodate the estimated 25,000 additional attendees, shuttle buses will run between the convention centers for all three exhibits.
Design and Construction Week 2014 expects more than 75,000 specifiers, builders, dealers, suppliers, and 2,000 exhibiting brands to attend. The 2015 show will occur January 20-22, 2015 and in 2016 on January 19-21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
