InterContinental Hotels Group plans to expand its portfolio of IHG Army Hotels. As the exclusive hotel manager and operator of on-post lodging under the Department of the Army’s Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) program, IHG will add 18 US military installations to its portfolio.
IHG will use the Holiday Inn Express brand in converting existing lodging facilities. Soon introducing its all-suite, extended-stay Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites brands, IHG will offer residential-style hotels with fully equipped kitchens and common areas. Upon completion of the PAL program’s third phase, there will be 76 hotels and more than 11,000 guestrooms on 39 US military installations.
“We are privileged to partner with the US Army and Lend Lease on the PAL program to deliver IHG Army Hotels, which continues IHG’s heritage of innovative firsts in the hospitality industry,” says Arthur Holst, vice president of operations for IHG Army Hotels.
With the growth of the IHG Army Hotels portfolio, IHG now employs nearly 1,800 people at on-post lodging facilities in hospitality management and staff positions. With approximately 1,053 hotels in the development pipeline, 90,000 new job positions will open worldwide over the next few years.
