InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced its plans to introduce a brand in China by year’s end, according to The Wall Street Journal. The upper mid-scale concept would land between the company’s upscale Crowne Plaza and luxury InterContinental brands. IHG believes that China will overtake the U.S. as the world’s largest hotel market by 2025. In addition, the company is exploring the possibility of a new midscale brand for the U.S.
