IHG plans to double its presence in China to more than 250 hotels over the next five years. The hotel group currently has 131 hotels open in the country and 146 in the development pipeline. This year alone, IHG is opening 30 hotels, including seven InterContinentals, seven Crowne Plaza properties, and the debut of Hotel Indigo. The company most recently opened two InterContinental hotels in Nanjing and Shanghai.
