InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed an agreement with the Oman Tourism Development Company SAOC (Omran) to open Crowne Plaza Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) in Muscat, Oman. The new-build property marks the second Crowne Plaza hotel in the capital and the fourth in Oman.

The 296-room hotel will be part of a mixed-use development due for completion in 2016. Overlooking a natural waterway and park, the OCEC will feature 236,806 square feet of exhibition space, a shopping center, and a business park.
The hotel will include five F&B outlets, including a rooftop restaurant, several pools and Jacuzzis, a fitness area, and a children’s playground. Meeting facilities include a boardroom, three meeting rooms, and a ballroom with a terrace.
“Omran’s Convention and Exhibition Centre is set to put Muscat on the MICE industry map. The alignment of the Crowne Plaza brand to the project makes perfect business sense for us and for our guests, who will be able to utilize OCEC’s world class facilities at their doorstep,” says Pascal Gauvin, COO, India, Middle East, and Africa for IHG. “We are delighted to continue to be a part of the capital’s exciting expansion plans.”
