InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) plans to open two Holiday Inn branded hotels in Brazil-the Holiday Inn Belo Horizonte Savassi hotel and the Holiday Inn Express Rio Branco.
Set in one of Brazil’s largest cities and also a host city for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the opening of the Holiday Inn Belo Horizonte Savassi marks IHG’s debut in Belo Horizonte. Designed by local firm FarKasVölgyi Arquitetura, the 216-room hotel boasts the largest number of guestrooms in the city as well as four meeting rooms and Drummond restaurant. The 110-room Holiday Inn Express Rio Branco also includes four meeting rooms as well as an outdoor pool and bar.
“It is very exciting to expand the Holiday Inn Express brand in new markets in Brazil, not only because we have a long and successful history here, but because the brand is ideal for meeting the needs of the country’s growing business and leisure travel markets-both local and international,” says Gerardo Murray, vice president of distribution commercial marketing for Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean for IHG.
IHG has 44 Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. And with properties situated in nearly every key market throughout the region, the brand has a total of nearly 80 hotels in Central and South America and the Caribbean.
