International Interior Design Association (IIDA) has inducted two members into its College of Fellows. Honorees for 2014 are Joan Blumenfeld and Felice Silverman.
Admission to the College of Fellows is the highest honor paid by IIDA to its professional members, recognizing those whose activities and efforts have benefitted and enhanced IIDA and whose design works have influenced the interior design profession.
“The IIDA College of Fellows proudly receives Felice and Joan as this year’s honored inductees,” says Viveca Bissonnette, IIDA’s College of Fellows chair. “Their contributions to IIDA and to interior design over the years have demonstrated their considerable passion for design and for the profession.”
IIDA president Felice Silverman is president and a principal at Boston-based Silverman Trykowski Associates. In her 25 years as a practicing interior designer, she has focused on designing for education, healthcare, fitness, and office interiors. In addition to her role on the IIDA International Board of Directors, she currently serves IIDA on the finance committee and editorial advisory board.
As a global interior design director at Chicago-based Perkins + Will, Joan Blumenfeld has designed humane, sustainable workplaces, schools, and institutions. In addition to mentoring talented young professionals, she has worked to educate the public on issues relating to the interior design profession. Blumenfeld currently serves on the advisory board at the New York School of Interior Design, and previously held a role on the executive committee of the Harvard Graduate School of Design Alumni Council.
Silverman and Blumenfeld will be honored at the IIDA Annual Meeting on June 8th at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.
