Il Sereno, Lago di Como in Italy is on the books for a 2013 opening. Acclaimed Parisian designer Christian Liaigre will helm a group of architects, landscape artists, and interior designers, all with the goal of creating a chic yet unassuming luxury hotel. The design will take inspiration from Lake Como’s culture, lifestyle, and the history of the region.
The 30 oversized guestrooms will be designed in a such a way that they bring to life a quote from ancient Roman times when Pliny the Younger said he could fish in the lake from the window of his room “almost from his bed.” Taking full advantage of the waterfront location, the hotel will incorporate naval features including a floating pool suspended over the lake and boat docking facilities to encourage naval transportation to explore the lake region. Noting Lake Como’s rich heritage in the silk industry, Il Sereno’s accoutrements will include touches of silk tapestries and accessories.
Overlooking the waters of Lake Como, the signature restaurant will offer cuisine centered on fresh regional produce served in an elegant yet relaxed indoor/outdoor environment. Il Sereno guests can also expect a full-service spa.
