Nestled in a rocky hillside in Buzios, Brazil, Insolito Boutique Hotel has unveiled a new restaurant, nine additional guestrooms, and a parilla. Serving Franco-Brazilian cuisine, the restaurant features two distinct spaces: a lounge area on the pool deck outside and a large room inside featuring a wall adorned with blue tiles hand-painted by Laura Taves, founder and director of the Tile Workshop in Rio de Janeiro. Framing the kitchen is a vertical garden produced by São Paulo company Quadro Vivo and designed by architect Luis Fernando Grabowsky. The restaurant’s furnishings include items from the 1960s by designer Jorge Zalszupin, with lighting by Maneco Quinderé.
Located in a new house connected to the main building, the nine new rooms showcase interiors related to Brazilian modernism, achieved through books, objects, furniture, paintings, and photographs. Meanwhile, the new parilla, or barbeque, is situated in the beach lounge restaurant and creates an interactive dining experience for guests. The open “kitchen” allows guests to get close to the action and learn tips from the parrilleiro (cook).
