InterContinental Miami is in the midst of a $30 million facelift that showcases the city’s cultural vibrancy. Tennis star Venus Williams’ design firm V Starr is making its hospitality debut with the design of two new distinct presidential suites that celebrate the city’s evolution as an international hotspot. Williams also enhanced the designs of six Executive Suites and the hotel’s 29th-floor Club Lounge. All 641 gusetrooms and suites are undergoing a refresh to include new carpeting, furniture, bedding, bathroom fixtures, wallpaper, and motorized window treatments.
A 19-story digital canvas comprising thousands of LED lights will project images and animations on the hotel’s east- and west-facing façades, while the revamped lobby immerses guests in a multimedia environment with 18 LCD screens showcasing items like digital artworks. Other high-tech features in the lobby include touchscreen coffee tables to order cocktails or book spa appointments, as well as a live camera feed displaying real-time video of Biscayne Bay. A new restaurant also is in the works.
