SpaRelaken will open its first U.S. location at the Miyako Hybrid Hotel in Torrance, California, in June. The Japanese-themed spa introduces "ganban-yoku" (or "bedrock bath") treatment featuring ore mined from the mountains of Kyushu, Japan. The low-to-the-ground stone beds, when heated, emit infrared rays and negative ions to help heat the body and detoxify through sweating.
ASC Group, established by Akemi Yamamoto, designed spaRelaken as an inviting space that encourages serenity, incorporating the elements of the natural world indoors. Wood floors are complemented by muted brown, beige, and orange tones to further promote a sense of calm and healing. The spa features four treatment rooms, including one for couples’ treatments, as well as separate areas for men and women to enjoy the dry sauna and deep Jacuzzi baths.
