Jeff Ornstein of Boston-based firm J/Brice Design has completed the design of the 1,200-room, $160 million Royal Tulip Hotel in Alexandria, Egypt, owned by the nation’s Department of Defense⎯⎯which specializes in luxury and mid-range hotel and resort developments.
Ornstein completed the interior design and installation of all FF&E in just three months⎯⎯a project that would normally take a year. The project also included designing multiple restaurants, suites, and ballroom and conference rooms and media centers.
“The region is transforming the hospitality industry,” says Ornstein of the Middle East. “A decade ago, nearly every new hotel or office building in the Arab Peninsula was created in the same international style that lacked any sense of place. Our focus is on incorporating the rich abundance of Arabian design motifs to reinforce the region and culture and enhance the guest experience.”
