Fosun International Limited has entered into an agreement with Kerzner International Holdings Limited to open an Atlantis resort in China. Set along the Haitang Bay National Coast, the Atlantis, Sanya Hainan will represent the first Atlantis resort in the country and the third Atlantis worldwide.
Overlooking the South China Sea, Atlantis will encompass over 153 acres of land, which includes a waterpark, marine exhibits, and dining experiences. Architectural and conceptual planning is under way for Atlantis, and construction will begin by the end of the year, with completion in 2016.

New York-based Jeffrey Beers International-having previously been part of the team that designed Atlantis resorts Paradise Island, Atlantis, and the Palm-has been enlisted to craft the interior design of the resort. New York-based Brennan Beer Gorman Architects (BBG) and Kerzner’s development and design team will work in tandem with the interior designer.
“Atlantis resorts have really defined the destinations they are located in-first in the Bahamas, and then on Palm Island, in Dubai,” says Guo Guangchang, chairman of Fosun. “Atlantis, Sanya Hainan will re-interpret the myth of Atlantis in a new and modern style, whilst pioneering previously unseen experiences to re-define holiday experiences in China and beyond.”
