JOI-Design has recently renovated the public areas of the Hotel Landhaus Wachtelhof, a 5-Star hotel in Niedersachsen, Germany.
The modern-day castle was originally constructed in the 1980s and has been open for more than a quarter century. Picturesque landscape, the quails that inspired the namesake of the country estate, and the provenance of its site-a former tannery-all influenced locally based JOI-Design’s concept for the new interiors.
The bright, open lobby and reception feature a calm palette of warm earthy hues and finely textured surfaces to evoke the hotel’s pastoral locale and set the mood. Smart new sofas, club chairs and poufs are complemented by occasional tables fashioned from burnished metal tops and tinted glass bases, all of which are placed on strié carpeting with tone-on-tone floral motifs.
The restaurant Die Wachtelei, or “The Quail Egg,” now is a stylish dining room with contemporary furnishings chosen to complement the classic interior style. Modern glass lamps reflect the natural light and artwork alludes to the surrounding woodlands.
